Lundgaard Love Foundation
“Our family was overwhelmed and extremely blessed by the outpouring of love and support from the community after Mitch’s death. We recognize that not everyone that goes through a tragedy receives this same amount of support and encouragement.
We created Lundgaard Love to continue to spread and share that love and support throughout the community while honoring the life and legacy of Mitch”
Who We’ve Helped
We have committed more than $65,000 to help those in our community. Below are just a few of the contributions we’ve made and with your support, we will continue to spread some Lundgaard Love.

Thank you so much for this scholarship! This is going to help my wife, and I with tuition. I am so grateful to receive this. This scholarship will be used towards tuition, and will help to ease some money burdens with my family and I currently. We have a 7 month old boy and any help with finances will help tremendously. After completion of my degree I plan to work as a full time firefighter/paramedic on a career department in Northeast Wisconsin. I know that FVTC has prepared me to be successful in this field.

I’d like to say it is an honor to receive this scholarship in memory of Mitch. I’ve heard the stories of his service, been taught by his colleagues, and even listened to his wife speak at Lambeau Field last fall. These are all things that bring true meaning to receiving this scholarship. I’m thankful as this will truly help me continue on to live up to the legacy of Mitch and so many others like him. My gratitude cannot be expressed enough. I will continue to push forward, dedicate myself to this path I’ve chosen, and hope to be the kind of firefighter Mitch would have been glad to work beside. Thank you once again.

Thank you so much for choosing me as the Mitch Lundgaard Memorial Scholarship recipient. I am honored to be chosen for a scholarship that hits so close to home and memorializes a true hero in the area. It is truly a blessing, I cannot thank you enough. This scholarship will allow me to focus on my classes in the upcoming semester. I just recently bought my first home, and have begun my school and work life balance. After I graduate from Fox Valley Technical College with my degree in Fire Protection, I plan to continue on to take my Paramedic certification. Once I have both of these completed, I am hoping to get hired on to a local fire department in the area.

I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to receive this scholarship. It is an honor to be able to carry on Mitch Lundgaard’s legacy throughout this scholarship. I can only hope that I can be half as selfless as Mitch was and I hope to serve whichever community it may the way Mitch served Appleton. I have heard many personal stories of the way Mitch was able to make his mark on the people he has met. I cannot express enough how appreciative I am to receive this scholarship and to be able to represent Mitch Lundgaard and his family. I plan on applying for career fire departments as I would like to find a community to serve and be a part of. I would also like to be able to use my paramedic skills and keep helping people in need.

Thank you for selecting me to receive the Mitch Lundgaard Memorial Scholarship. This means a lot to me because of the great significance behind it. Knowing what Mitch Lundgaard has done for the Appleton community has inspired me to become a better person and a better student. Being selected to receive this scholarship has reignited a flame that has gone out because of the changes in my education due to the pandemic. Receiving this scholarship will help.

“I did not know FF Mitch personally, but I have heard nothing but amazing things about him. My father was not only part of the honor guard at the funeral, but he was also close with FF Mitch through the Task Force. Hearing stories from my father and countless of other firefighters about Mitch made me want to meet him in person one day. Being able to receive this scholarship means so much to me. I can’t express how much of an honor this is. Prayers to the family. Thank you.”

“I would just like to start off by thanking the family of Mitch Lundgaard for their dedication to the education of fire protection students at FVTC. Everything that your family has gone through I cannot imagine what it has been like, but for the honor of what Mitch had done this scholarship will continue to effect lives even after his time as a firefighter. As firefighters we are in the business of changing lives and this scholarships prove that the family of the fire service continues on no matter what. I plan to go on to paramedic school at FVTC after graduation of that program I hope to achieve a job as a full-time firefighter somewhere in the state of Wisconsin. Thank you.”

“I would like to personally thank the Lundgaard family. It is truly an honor to receive this award after Mitch. I am really close with a family that is part of AFD and actually watched their puppies so they could attend Mitch’s funeral. Although it was such a tragedy with what happened it made my passion for this field grow. The camaraderie that is in this field is incredible. Everyone is truly a family and it showed when Appleton lost Mitch. I truly can’t thank you enough for helping me achieve my dreams. Take care and once again thank you so much. I am extremely blessed!”
